More About Lelli Kelly
The factory started making shoes for the UK market in the late 1990s but has actually been around in Europe for around 25 years and is based in Lucca in Italy. All of the footwear collection are designed there but the actual products are made in high quality factories in the Far East. They use really good quality materials including thermoplastic rubber soles, leather linings and the best leather for the uppers. The collection is split in to four distinct areas.
This is where they started in the UK bringing in printed canvas pumps which were embellished with sequins and small jewels. The idea grew and grew and is still an essential part of the brands culture including t bar styles, dolly pumps and baseball boots. Now they develop full ranges based around certain themes, with crowns, princesses, strawberry patterns and most recently the Zoo Canvas collection. This is unique in that it can be bought by left and right feet. The buyer can have a left elephant and a right zebra for example as long as the sizes match!
After the success of the canvas shoes they started work on their part collection initially as just a couple of black patent styles on low heels. The Mille Volti was the first of these to feature three interchangeable straps that could be removed and repositioned to give a different look with each set of straps. The brand still makes party shoes but has dropped some of the higher heels.
After the success of Michelle, the first proper shoe the brand introduced a small selection of functional school shoes. The collection featured criss cross strap shoes and pretty patents and has most recently featured the interchangeable straps school shoes. These styles come with a chiffon bag containing three sets of straps and like the party shoes before them they can be removed and replaced giving three ways to wear the shoes. Tones down for school or blinged up for parties!
In the same season they introduced the party shoes the brand launched their first boot collection featuring a small range of boots with low, and later click-clack heels! They were a huge success and lead on to the first of the changeable strap boots – Samantha. Like the shoes these fabulous boots cam with three sets of straps that could be taken off and swapped over giving many ways to wear the boots. Later boots came on lower heels and featured leg warmers and late removable flower cuffs that could also be taken off.
Over the years the brand hs played around with other ideas as well such as wellies, snow boots, bags and T shirts. The bags remain and have become an integral part of the spring/summer season.
