Emotion shoes are not simply narrow shoes made wider!, the designers of Emotion Footwear spotted a gap in the market for shoes that were actually designed to be wide from the very beginning. Previously shoe manufacturers that had made wider fitting footwear had started from a traditional last shape and sole and then added more width in specific points along so that the shoes would fit a wider foot.

The problem with this of course is that the shoes would only fit specific parts of the foot and has no real chance of being comfortable because the underlaying shape of the last and sole was too narrow.

Emotion shoes changed all this by actually creating the wider sole first and the shoe from the bottom up, so the bottom plate itself was made wider from the very start. This meant that they could create a real fitting shoe on top. They took samples of foot shapes from many larger women so that they could come up with the perfect fitting shoes and used these samples as templates for the range of bigger fitting soles and lasts.
