It’s pretty hard to deny that shoes are a fairly essential piece of kit in today’s society. I suppose if you lived a sheltered, mollycoddled life and walked on nothing but marshmallows, fabric softener and baby squirrel tails then you could probably get away with going barefoot, but if we’re honest it’s much easier to slip on a pair of shoes and get on with life.
It’s true that there are indigenous tribes across the globe that have developed thick, seemingly impenetrable calloused soles which permit them to traverse the jungle floor without fear of skewering themselves on a spear-like thorn. And sure, there are people out there with names like Ray and Bear who will harp on about how you can fashion yourself a pair of clogs out of a couple of beavers and half an oak tree but come on, is this really what we want?
Rhetoric aside, of course it isn’t. Sure there are far too many people out there with far too many shoes, but on the whole the reason we buy shoes is one born purely out of necessity. We’re under no illusions that the soles of our feet are about as adapted to life in the forest as a cat is adapted to swimming in treacle.
Knowing this, it’s a real shame that most of the designs that rear their heads on the high street and tinterweb these days are based purely on aesthetics, as opposed to being functional, comfortable shoes that also happen to look good. Fortunately though, most does not mean all.
Scholl Sandals and Shoes are all designed with one core principle in mind. The idea that shoes should look good, but at the same time be comfortable. And the philosophy stretches beyond just comfort with Scholl. Considering we spend the majority of our lives walking, it stands to reason that problems with the feet can lead to problems elsewhere in our bodies.
With this in mind, all Scholl Shoes and Sandals are designed to improve the health, comfort and well-being of people through their feet. Their latest designs look funkier and fresher than ever, and still adhere to the same, solid principles that have made them the success story that they are today.
So I guess it goes to show that when it comes to shoes, stylish and sexy are adjectives that can pair up perfectly with comfortable and practical. And for now at least, it’s all thanks to Scholl.
