Frank Wright has been around a long time, let me tell you! from a tiny factory in Northampton, making peg heeled boots for the army in 1885 to fashion forward brand in 2012, that’s 127 years of history in one sentence (nice one Nige!) The Frank Wright of today is far removed from its Victorian ancestor – the brand is now under new management, with the owners of ravel, Lotus and Gola and they know a bit about making shoes! The current collection is their best yet with a full range of fashionable shoes, boots and Spring styles to tickle your taste buds and maybe your toes!
They have taken the greatest hits of Men’s style for 2012 and produced well priced collections that are sensibly prices and ultra trendy – Chino wearable espadrilles, great desert boots that would put even Ben Sherman to shame and a range of flat causal that just look great. Think Ben Sherman and where do you go? button down collar shirts, plaid, buckle loafers and desert boots? think again! in an effort to move the brand out of the 90′s Ben Sherman have come up with an inspiring collection of Men’s Espadrilles. Espadrilles? I hear you cry! – well yes, loosely, these are shoes made from canvas and vulcanised like slippers – that’s the hot curing of the rubber that makes up the sole, then wrapped in rope! You can see this in the photo below. The shoe, to all intents and purposes look like a normal canvas pump but the devil is in the detail! and this traditional form of manufacture has been going on in Spain since Adam or maybe ‘Juan!’ was a lad!.

A classic beef roll plain vamp loafer on a flexible rubber sole, made from super soft nubuck with a leather lining! – we keep banging on about chinos but we can’t think of a better to shoe to wear them with!
Not always correct in their description of a shoe and me being a pedant! this is not an Oxford at all but a classic two eyelet Derby! maybe they call them Oxfords in America but I’m having non of it! This is a top quality shoe made from tough oiled suede, made in the traditional veldschoen way just like a desert boot, stitched to the mid sole and rand and then stuck to the rugged, cleated rubber sole. With a leather lining and sock this is the Rolls Royce of chino wear! a cracking shoe.
Boat Shoes are massive this season and Timberland have updated their range of Classic Two Eyes with the addition of this light tan version on an off white sole. Not as stark as some of the pure white soles from Sperry or Sebago but a perfect match for the shoe. The style also comes in Navy Smooth and Earthy Brown. Great top quality deck shoes that are giving Sebago a real run for their money!
