Fly London have been making great footwear since 1995 when the founder of Base London teamed up with designer Perry King and Portuguese shoe factory Kyaia to come up with a brand new urban footwear brand. The collection was centrered around naturally tanned leathers and real rubber soles to come up with an earthy inspired shoe collection.Women's Fly Shoes became a huge success and now the brand is sold in over 30 countries worldwide including Australia and Japan and other parts of the Far East. The ethos of Fly London design has been to protect the core collection which means that great styles are slowly evolved from season to season, so that top selling Fly Boots styles like Mes, Mol and Vibe are kept in the collection and gradually reinterpreted in to the latest leathers and fashion colours, so a Fly Boot might only be available in back, tan and brown but as colours come in then the pallet moves forward so boots are released in petrol and purple. This keeps Fly Boots in fashion season to season.
The other trick is to employ fresh young designers who are allowed free rein to come up with innovative and clean modern design. Some times this doesn't work but more excitingly when it does work, its brilliant!
Men's Fly Shoes were added in 2003 and have been a huge success both in the UK and abroad. The shoes are truly innovative taking design tweeks from the fly ladies' shoes and using them in the mens fly shoes collection. So for example we have Rage and Rate using the same rug leather that you find in the ladies boots. Also wide velcro straps are prevalent as well as aggressive square toes as found in the huge selling 'B' collection like Bruce and Boris!
Fly Children's Shoes were introdued in 2008 and have just started to make an impact. Fly London take the best selling styles from their adult ranges and develop them in to smaller versions in girls and bots sizes. So we have smaller versions of Mes which becomes Messy and scaled down versions of other top sellers which can be worn for back to school.
